Liani Taljaard holds a Bcom (Law), LLB and LLM (Intellectual Property Law) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is a Director in KISCH IP's Trade Mark Litigation Department. Her focus is on intellectual property litigation, inclusive of trade mark infringement, oppositions, passing off and unlawful competition related matters, domain name disputes, company name objections in South Africa and various other African territories, Intellectual Property valuations, licensing, exchange control approval applications and all aspects of copyright related matters.
Liani is a fellow member of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL) and has written multiple articles exploring the importance of trade mark registrations, its function as a badge of origin, trade mark distinctiveness, as well as the significance of naming a unique product and explaining the intricate nature of copyright in traditional works.
